Governing Body

The Board of Governors is responsible for the strategic direction, ethos and overall governance of the school. Its core functions are:

  • To set the vision and strategic direction of the school
  • To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school
  • To ensure that the school’s financial resources are well spent

The Board of Governors shall be no more than 12 governors, with a minimum of 2 Parent Governors, and the Foundation Governors cannot be more than 25% of the overall Board which consist of:

  • Up to 3 Parent governors and no less than 2 Parent governors
  • One Local Authority governor
  • One Foundation (Ex Officio) governor
  • One Foundation governor
  • One Staff (Ex Officio) governor. The Headteacher sits ex officio; may choose not to be appointed as a governor
  • One Staff governor
  • Up to 4 Co-Opted governors, as required to fulfil key responsibilities

Governors are required to make a signed declaration of their Business and Pecuniary Interests at the start of each Academic Year. Further, at the start of each meeting, Governors are requested to declare any changes to their original statement.  The declarations and updates are recorded in the Register of Governors’ Business and Pecuniary Interests after any change, and after each meeting.
