Educational Visits

Well planned and executed educational visits provide our pupils with valuable experiences which enhance their learning at school. Providing a variety of ‘real-life’ opportunities for our children enables them to achieve a fuller understanding of the world around them through direct experience.

School visits benefit young people in many ways, including:

  • being able to apply a different range of skills than those used in the classroom
  • enabling, supporting and complementing the work of the curriculum, experimental (first hand) and memorable leaning
  • assessing and managing risks (safety)
  • developing latent talents, abilities and interests, which can be motivational and have lifelong relevance

Regular visits include:

  • Salisbury Playhouse
  • Salisbury Cathedral
  • Salisbury Library
  • Old Sarum
  • St Lawrence Church
  • Hooke Court (residential)
  • Stonehenge
  • Waitrose Cookery School

Appropriate risk assessments take place prior to any off-site visit taking place.

The Educational Visits co-ordinator is Hannah Crook.

Any overnight visit will explicitly set out sleeping arrangements; the role and responsibility of each adult, whether employed or volunteers; on/off duty arrangements; clear expectations about boundaries and interactions with children/young people.

Safeguarding concerns or allegations will be responded to following the WSCB/ SVPP (Safeguarding Vulnerable People’s Partnership) procedures.  The member of staff in charge of the visit will report any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead, who will pass to Social Care if appropriate. In emergency the staff member in charge will contact the police and/or social care.

Stratford-sub-castle Primary School does not participate in school exchange visits as we do not consider such visits are appropriate for children of primary age.
